AYF ER Statement on Passing of ARF Leader Vahan Hovannesian
The AYF-YOARF Eastern Region mourns the loss of Unger Vahan Hovannesian, a longtime ARF leader and champion of the Armenian cause. Unger Vahan was 58 when he passed away on Dec. 28, 2014.
Unger Vahan served the ARF Bureau and Armenia’s National Assembly, and he was recently appointed Armenia’s Ambassador to Germany. He was a participant in the war with Azerbaijan and was imprisoned as a political prisoner for three years. He was the ARF’s candidate for the 2008 Presidential Election in Armenia.
The AYF-YOARF Eastern Region dedicated its 81st annual Convention to the memory of Unger Vahan and other fallen ungers. We are saddened by this news, and our condolences are with his family and all lives he affected.
