Providence “Varantian” Chapter February Recap
The Providence “Varantian” Chapter – February Recap
The month of February was a great month for the Hey John Kids as we had a meeting, social, event and fundraiser. The chapters first official meeting of 2017 was on February 11th. The meeting was filled with insightful ideas and a lot of brainstorming regarding fundraisers throughout the year. We also had an educational about St. Gregory and St. Patrick given to us by our chapters educational committee, which includes: U. Sevan Zobian, U. Sevan Donoyan and U. Geroge Donoyan. After the meeting AYF Seniors and Juniors went ice-skating in Downtown Providence at the Alex and Ani City Center. Although it was freezing outside, everyone had a wonderful time.
On February 25th The Providence “Varantian” Chapter also had a fundraiser to benefit Syrian Relief. U. Garo Tashian organized this fundraiser in the form of ticket sales to a Providence College Friars basketball game. It was great to get the AYF youth and community together for a great cause. Another plus was that the PC Friars beat the Marquette Golden Eagles 73-69!
Lastly, on February 26th, the Providence Community celebrated Vartanantz Day. After church on that Sunday, a reception was held and members of the church were awarded for all that they do for the community.
All in all, February was an outstanding month for our chapter and we’re excited to see where the rest of the year will take us.
