The AYF-YOARF Central Executive is happy to announce that applications for the K. Merton Bozoian and Dikran Hagopian AYF-YOARF Scholarships are now being accepted.
The AYF-YOARF awards these scholarships based on financial need and academic excellence. Furthermore, the AYF-YOARF gives consideration to those in need who demonstrate an ongoing commitment to the Armenian Cause. The scholarships are available only to members of the Armenian Youth Federation, Eastern USA. Those interested in applying should complete the form below. Number of awards and award amounts will be decided after the application deadline by the AYF-YOARF Central Executive.
Additionally, there is another AYF Scholarship opportunity called the Luther “Lou” Halwadjian Fellowship. Please read below about U. Luther’s story:
Luther “Lou” Halwadjian was born and raised in Watertown, MA. As a youth, Luther attended Armenian Sisters Academy in Lexington, MA and was also an active member of the Homenetmen Boston and AYF Greater Boston “Nejdeh” Chapters. Amongst his favorite events each year was Junior Seminar in Prospect, PA. Luther took pride in his Armenian heritage and roots, of being a product of the Watertown community, and raising his son to speak Armenian, just like his parents did for him.
Luther was diagnosed with ALS in the early months of 2019. He would go on to battle with the disease for the remainder of the year, until eventually succumbing to his illness in November of 2019. Although his bout with ALS was short-term, Luther fought tremendously hard each day and showed an abundance of selflessness, prioritizing the wellbeing and spirits of his family and friends. This fellowship is in remembrance of Luther Halwadjian and all others who have fought or are fighting ALS or similar diseases.
The Luther “Lou” Halwadjian Fellowship is a $1,500 award offered to one student who is pursuing higher education in the medical field.
Only complete applications shall be given consideration. The deadline for the AYF-YOARF Scholarship and Luther “Lou” Halwadjian Fellowship is Sunday, June 30th, 2024 at 11:59 PM.
The AYF-YOARF CE shall inform the recipients of the AYF-YOARF Scholarship of the amount of their award by no later than Sunday, July 28th, 2024.
