What better way to connect young people than to bring them together for an enlightening day of information gathering and socializing? The Armenian Relief Society Eastern Region proudly announces its fourth annual Youth Connect Program (YCP), which will be held at New York University on Saturday, March 2, 2013.
This year, the program will offer information and training geared toward social media and how it can be used to further community life and activism. YCP will feature a presentation by Internet business expert and blogger Haig Kayserian. Based in Australia and New York, Mr. Kayserian has founded two international companies and has co-founded six technology start ups. He has spoken worldwide on the topic of mass media and web applications.
The ARS YCP Program Director, Professor Asbed Kotchikian of Bentley University, will lead the one-day educational seminar. His expertise in Armenian history has keenly interested students at previous seminars and the program promises to be enlightening and educating this year as well.
Participants will meet and greet with a continental breakfast at NYU’s Kimmel Center, 60 Washington Square South, Manhattan, at 10 a.m. After an interactive lecture by Professor Kotchikian, students will break for lunch, and then will continue with our featured guest speaker, Haig Kayserian. As always, student participation by question and answer is encouraged. Professor Kotchikian will end the program with an opportunity fair, with representatives of several Armenian organizations informing students about their respective internship opportunities. The event concludes at 5 p.m. and ARS will host students at an evening social for them to spend time getting to know one another. Overnight accommodations will be provided to out of town students.
