ARS Youth Connect at NYU February 28-March 1

The ARS Youth Connect program will take place February 28-March at NYU in New York City.

What: ARS Youth Connect, “Looking Beyond the Centennial”

Where: NYU

When: Saturday, February 28, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, March 1, 10 a.m.

Who can apply: University students (18-25 years old)

Registration is required. A $25 registration fee includes meals and the evening dinner. Overnight accommodation will be offered for out-of-town students.

This year’s program includes:

  • Photojournalist Scout Tufankjian will speak about her experience documenting Armenian communities for the Armenian Diaspora Project.
    • Tufankjian is a photojournalist based in Brooklyn, New York. Her work has been featured in Newsweek, US News & World Report, Le Monde, Newsday, and The New York Times. Tufankjian’s book featuring a selection of the photographs from Obama’s presidential campaign, Yes We Can: Barack Obama’s History-Making Presidential Campaign in December 2008, sold out its initial 55,000 copy run a month before it was released. Tufankjian photo of Michelle Obama and President Barack Obama hugging each other, released in Nov. 2012, become the most liked photo on Facebook and most retweeted tweet in history.

The program also features a talk by scholar Khatchig Mouradian, the ARS Youth Connect Program director.

Other speakers will be announced in the coming weeks.
