AYF Internship 2016: Vardavar in Yerevan

They say that time flies when you’re having fun, and I completely agree! It’s crazy that a month has gone by already on the AYF Internship. Throughout the past few weeks we have had the opportunity to go on many excursions as well as work every day.
The sights of Armenia never fail to amaze me. As many times as I have been to the beautiful structures of Sardarabad and the amazing monuments of Dzidzenagapert, my homeland never fails to wow me.
One of the greatest experiences was definitely being in Yerevan on Vardavar. It started off the second we stepped out of our house and got sprayed by a man driving by. As we walked toward the opera we began to get attacked by people with buckets of water and hoses. Shortly after, we ended up getting pushed into Swan Lake and joined in on the festivities.
One thing that I realized on this day was that the entire city of Yerevan was smiling. Not many people can say that they were in Yerevan on Vardavar, and I’m lucky enough to say I got to experience it.
